Toronto,
Ont.M5A 3X2 July 26, 2001 Dear Sir or Madame: I am writing to you seeking work in an Information Technologies and Management office in the greater Toronto Area. I am currently employed at General Electric Superabrasives as an Information Management Contractor. I applied for my current position for the variety of new job skills it would provide. My experience thus far has given me the ability to handle much more responsibility than I had in previous positions. My ideas and on the fly decisions currently affect not just a small plant, but an entire business due to the close work I do with servers. Working systems support in General Electric Lighting, I had the opportunity to work as part of a team and as a team leader working within Six Sigma standards. I always looked forward to our weekly staff meetings as an opportunity to discuss my input in an open forum, and find new solutions for problems presented. Over my three years working in Lighting, I had many projects some of which I started and some of which I took up from other groups. These projects included a follow-up to an initial inventory tracking installation using wireless networking, and management of a Nortel team installing an internal cellular network into a plant location to aid systems support when working on the manufacturing floor. During this period I also worked on some programming projects to help migrate the data collecting from our assembly process from VMS to an NT environment. This involved working as part of our Cimplicity team and with an outside contractor. I was also asked, during the course of this migration, to assist with the installation of a new Oracle-based quality-monitoring solution we bought from HNS, a company located in Györ, Hungary. My fluency in Hungarian, and novice ability in French allowed me to contact both HNS personnel in Györ, and emergency contacts vacationing in Belgium. In my spare time, I am also continuing to learn about computers and networking, as this kind of systems support is turning out to be a passion for me. My apartment is currently connected with DSL broadband, and using a Linux server, which I have designed and built. Through a modified install, I have created an Internet gateway for my home network. I am very proud of this mini-LAN at home not only because all the desktops on it are hand built and designed, but also the versatility of the service. The network is expandable so that visitors can hook into my network from a laptop. TCP/IP and AppleTalk work well together on the network, and while I only have Linux and Windows computer on the network currently, PowerBooks can be easily integrated. To
further acquaint you with the specifics of my background I am enclosing
my resume. Thank you for taking the time to consider my application.
I look forward to future contact with you and discussing my qualifications
in more detail. Sincerely, Krisztian Szabo Information Management Organization Contractor |
